Do Campaigns Hire Bloggers to Write on Sites Like These?

That was kind of an alarmist title, and I don't have any kind of answer, but I'm really curious what other people think? Don't you think some diarists just turn out so much content that's almost comically illogical in its support of one democratic candidate over the other? And they seem constantly to be online.

Completely aside from the absolutely massive amount of content, both in terms of diaries and comments, I have a hard time understanding how could someone prefer one of these candidates to the absolute and complete exclusion to the other if they're interested in politics? They're so similar in so many ways.

Anyway, maybe I'm just sleep deprived and/or paranoid, but I was curious if people knew whether this sort of thing has financial backing somehow.

Well, the Clinton campaign has employed (or gotten volunteers) to write letters to newspapers (notably in PA), etc, and I don't know if the Obama campaign is guilty of the same thing. I think less so, because they seem to have less need to do so, given Obama's support on the net.

We have Alegre here, who obviously shills for Clinton, follows her propaganda line to a tee, but whether or not she's paid is an open question. I doubt it, as Clinton can't afford to pay for anything right now, heh. She's just motivated by her own personal reasons; which is unfortunate, however, as after this nomination process nobody will ever take her seriously again.

I agree. Actually, to be fair to HRC, the two or three shills here who are on the rec list daily not only stick to the propaganda perfectly, but then go to heinous extremes lower than anything HRC ever has done.

Every day there is something on the rec list here that qualifies for 'the most vile thing I can find on the internet' award for that day. I read them like I used to listen to Limbaugh...to know how bad it can get.

Are they paid? I don't think so. If you could find a paper trail back to any mainstream candidate from the kind of things that have been said on this site, it could kill a candidacy overnight. This kind of sickness and obsession can't be bought.

At the time the Obama campaign is supposedly interested in reaching out and bridging the divide in the Democratic Party, you (and others below) get no points for gratuitiously attacking one of the most passionate, dedicated, and sincere supporters of Clinton.

I, and many other Clinton supporters (and some supporters of other candidates) deeply admire and respect Alegre, a working Mom who has put in so many countless hours to work for her candidate, not only online but in other ways as well (phone banking, etc.) She is a real grassroots leader. If you truly think that Obama is going to win the nomination, then I suggest you show some respect to those who have worked so hard for Hillary.

I see what is happening, where this campaign is going. I plan to support the nominee no matter. All I ask is that you make this a little bit easier for me.

Don't attack Alegre. She is a loyal, hard-working Democrat. You'll want her energy and dedication in the fall.

There's a variety of reasons for that. Internet = anonymity, which makes it easier to do. I know for a fact at least one of the regulars here is a Republican Troll; he admitted as much on a FARK.com forum (he's a Limbaugh ditto-moron). I just have to wait for some more proof to fall in line and I'll nail him, but there's some more explanation for such things. I don't think it pays to pay people to do such things... yet, anyway.

Quite a few people on this site tend to write attack diaries. You can find them on the rec list everyday. It shouldn't be surprising then to find commenters responding to the diary in the same tone it sets.

I don't criticize those who wish to stick with Hillary until she withdraws, only those who suggest that she has a realistic chance to win. So long as her supporters recognize that Obama will be the likely nominee and that further negative campaigning against him will only hurt our party's chances there is not harm in supporting Clinton. Clinton is a fine Democrat and you have nothing to be ashamed of in supporting her in one of the hardest fought primaries in history. I look forward to joining with you to beat McCain, however, in the fall.

I am on the PC all the time working, politicking and what not.

I get very deeply involved with issues I'm passionate about. If they're paying people to write diaries somewhere, let me know! I'll do it!

I have a blog on a subject unrelated to politics. I wind up talking about a lot of stuff in a way that could be perceived as advertising, but actually, I 'm just talking about what is available to people who are interested in this topic. And I write a lot. I've had one offer to buy my blog. But I do know that people think I'm paid for what i do. I'm not. Nor do I sell advertising although that will change soon.

I think it's the same thing here. I've never seen anyone on any campaign at this site that has struck me as being paid. Maybe at Kos, but I doubt it.
